The declaration was elaborated in an international process before the convention: In April, WEC 2011 launched the Call from Geneva that gives answers to burning questions society is asking about the future energy supply. The conclusions were open for discussion in a blog on the website. WEC 2011 collected all the comments and inputs from the blog and put together a final declaration.

Therefore, WEC 2011 launched the Young Engineers Project.
