The WFEO Capacity Building Committee chair has successfully been handed over to Mr Christopher (Chris) Campbell (South Africa) effective September 2011. Chris is currently the President of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and will Chair this Committee for the next 4 years. As the Chair he has undertaken not to “re-invent the wheel” but rather to “refine it” and so intends buidling on all the good work done so far by the previous Committee under the Chairmanship of Mr Dan Clinton (United States). To this end the following broad projects will be embarked on in the immediate to near future, namely, developing a Compendium of relevant and specific sections of the Capacity Building Guideline 2010 and making electronic versions thereof available for download. Furthermore, it intends developing further projects which will contain information to assist local Engineering Instituions to lobby and advise  governement decision makers  on balancing Engineering Capacity with Infrastructure Investment, Operations & Maintenance to ensure sustainability of both Capacity and Infrastructure.
